Brewers' Christian Yelich likely to miss at least a month with adductor strain
On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Christian Yelich on the injured list with a second-degree adductor strain, expecting him to miss at least a month.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy pulled Yelich during Sunday's 8-6 loss to the Washington Nationals after the outfielder felt a "twinge" while grounding into a fielder's choice in the first inning.
Through 15 games, the 34-year-old Yelich was Milwaukee's top offensive producer with 16 hits and a.314 average; Murphy emphasized that the team must be careful with such injuries.
The Brewers selected utility player Greg Jones from Triple-A Nashville to replace Yelich on the roster, while transferring left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny to the 60-day injured list.
Roster depth remains tested, as outfielder Jackson Chourio and first baseman Andrew Vaughn remain on the injured list with hand injuries, both expected to return by mid-May.
