Robin Yount and Brewers' Broadcast Team Pay Tribute to Bob Uecker by Borrowing From His Wardrobe
Robin Yount and the Brewers radio crew honored Bob Uecker with his plaid sport coats as Milwaukee played its first World Series game since 1982.
On Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, Hall of Famer Robin Yount honored legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker by wearing one of his plaid sport coats before throwing out the first pitch at Game 1 of the World Series in Milwaukee.
Uecker, who died in January 2025 at age 90, broadcast Brewers games for 54 years, becoming synonymous with the team through his local presence and national celebrity from movies, sitcoms, and beer commercials.
The Brewers radio crew—Lane Grindle, Jeff Levering, Josh Maurer, and Kent Sommerfeld—also wore Uecker's blazers in the broadcast booth after his family approved the tribute, calling it "Absolutely, that's incredible."
Yount revealed a jersey featuring "Ueck" before his pitch, while fans placed Miller Lite beer cans at the statue outside American Family Field, referencing his famous "Must be in the front row!" commercial.
Uecker's legacy remains central to the franchise, with statues at American Family Field and the radio booth named in his honor, maintaining his presence during the Brewers' first World Series appearance since 1982.
