The demonstration on the Brenner motorway (A13) near Matrei am Brenner in Tyrol, which resulted in a complete closure of the Brenner corridor, began on Saturday afternoon. According to initial estimates from the fire department, around 4,500 people flocked to the motorway, where they were greeted by the mayors of the Wipptal valley. The initiator of the protest, Gries mayor Karl Mühlsteiger, described it as a "historic moment."
