‘Breaking Bad’ Stars Heartbroken Over R.J. Mitte’s Death at 34
Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and other cast members praised the actor’s advocacy for disability rights after his death at 34.
Actor RJ Mitte died on Monday, October 12, 2026, at age 34 in Brownsville, Texas; his representatives confirmed the passing, with reports indicating he died by suicide.
Mitte rose to fame portraying Walter White Jr., the son of drug kingpin Walter White, in the AMC series Breaking Bad, which ran from 2008 to 2013. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 3, he became a disability rights advocate.
Bryan Cranston, who played his on-screen father, wrote he was in "deep despair" following the news and recalled Mitte as a "fine actor" who "never allowed that challenge to be an excuse for anything."
Dean Norris expressed heartbreak on social media, saying, "He was a sweetheart of a young man and will be greatly missed." Aaron Paul stated, "I am heartbroken over this news," urging others to seek support.
Beyond acting, Mitte served as president of The Mitte Foundation and ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy, dedicating his career to challenging stereotypes and promoting greater representation for performers with disabilities.
