Representatives of the Confederation of the Polish Crown were not admitted to the commemorations of the 86th anniversary of the first deportation of Poles to Auschwitz. The Museum justified the decision by citing previous scandalous statements and the public denial of the existence of gas chambers by members of this group. The delegation that was not admitted to the commemorations was led by MP Roman Fritz.
The Auschwitz Museum announced that representatives of the Confederation of the Polish Crown were not allowed to attend the commemorations held at the former Auschwitz I camp.
Museum spokesman Bartosz Bartyzel stated that "this decision stems from the fact that recently members of this formation have repeatedly publicly expressed theses denying the existence of gas chambers used in the camp to murder people."
The mechanisms of exclusion, contempt, and dehumanization did not disappear with the end of World War II. They simply changed language, tools, and forms, but they remain present, emphasized Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska during Sunday's commemorations of the 86th anniversary of the first deportation of Poles to Auschwitz.
