Researchers from several Ecuadorian institutions documented the presence of 26 species of bats, including some threatened, in a forest in the coastal province of Manabí, which positions it as “a fundamental refuge” in the country for these animals, the Ministry of Environment and Energy reported on Thursday.
Bosque La Esperanza, in Manabí, hosts at least 26 species of bats and meets criteria to be recognized as AICOM.
