U.S. Border Patrol Arrest 37 on Western N.Y. Stretch of New York State Thruway
Operation Bear Cave targeted 37 illegal crossers, including 30 with commercial driver licenses from multiple states, all now in ICE custody for removal processing.
- In a recent multi-day Operation Bear Cave, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Buffalo Sector Border Patrol agents arrested 37 men during a sweep along Interstate 90/The New York State Thruway, targeting male commercial drivers.
- Acting Buffalo Sector Chief Patrol Agent James D'Amato said illegal aliens operating commercial vehicles raise significant safety concerns amid New York's sanctuary policies, prompting CBP and ICE to crack down.
- Inspection findings show 30 drivers held CDLs from California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon and Pennsylvania, and agents inspected more than 10 locations with ICE-HSI and ICE ERO.
- All 37 arrestees remain in ICE custody and are being processed for removal, and the Buffalo Sector urged local citizens to report suspicious activity at 1-800-331-0353.
- The CBP Buffalo Sector covers 29 counties across western, central and upstate New York and northeastern Pennsylvania, spanning 341 maritime border miles plus more than 400 air miles along the northern border.
