Bono Trades Blows with Israeli Minister After Shock Comparison
Bono said the minister’s Gaza comments dehumanized Palestinians and cast a shadow over Judaism, while Ben-Gvir accused him of defending terror.
- On Tuesday, U2 frontman Bono criticized Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in a new Rolling Stone interview, comparing the minister's rhetoric regarding Gaza to that of Nazi leader Heinrich Himmler.
- Bono specifically targeted comments where Ben-Gvir suggested some Gaza residents are 'not worthy of life,' arguing such statements cast a shadow over the moral foundations of Judaism.
- While condemning Hamas's October 7 attack as 'an unholy offence,' the singer reiterated his support for Israel's 'right to exist' and criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's dependence on coalition partners.
- Ben-Gvir responded on X, labeling critics 'supporters of terrorism' and suggesting Palestinians 'find a future in Ireland,' whose government has emerged as one of Israel's fiercest European critics.
- As Ben-Gvir faces entry bans in Ireland and France, the dispute reflects ongoing international friction surrounding his role in the current Israeli government.
