Police said the 43-year-old singer’s death is not being treated as a crime after a body was recovered from the lake.
On Tuesday, police recovered the body of 43-year-old Ben Saunders from Rijkerswoerdse Plassen, a recreational lake in Arnhem, Netherlands, after a man was seen entering the water and failing to resurface.
Saunders gained prominence in 2011 winning The Voice in Holland, having pursued television talent shows for a decade, including the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest with his brother Dean.
Beyond his music career, Saunders faced publicized health and legal difficulties, including a 2016 community service sentence, and was a member of the Satudarah biker club banned in 2020.
Dean wrote on Instagram, "My dear little brother has passed away," adding, "I have never experienced pain like this before," while requesting respect for the family during this time.
Police stated the death is not being treated as a crime, while family members confirmed Saunders' death to the Telegraaf, noting he was well known in the Gelderland biker community.
