Black Country site of troubled flooring business saved in Headlam rescue deal
The rescue deal transfers Headlam’s Crucial Trading and Concept Flooring businesses and leaves administrators reviewing the remaining units.
- On Wednesday, Likewise Group acquired assets from Birmingham-based Headlam for £14.9 million, securing 110 jobs. The deal includes the Crucial Trading and Concept Flooring brands, a distribution hub in Berkshire, and intellectual property.
- Headlam entered administration early in September, leading to its shares being delisted from the London Stock Exchange. The company, once valued at more than £500 million, previously employed more than 1,300 people.
- Joint administrators from Interpath, including Ryan Grant, have managed the insolvency process. Prior cuts included 154 job losses and 28 closed trade counters; further restructuring saw 64 redundancies and 25 additional closures.
- Grant stated the sale represents the "best and most deliverable outcome for creditors," safeguarding the Crucial Trading and Concept Flooring brands. Administrators are now assisting Likewise in selling residual stock across remaining premises.
- Likewise aims to grow toward £300 million in revenues following the transaction. Administrators continue to assess options for remaining businesses and assets, including those trading under the names Domus and Melrose.
