Billy Strings Announces New Album So Much for Goodbyes
The 16-song set was co-produced by T Bone Burnett and includes lead single “Burn the Other End,” with cover art by Debra Apostol.
On Tuesday, bluegrass musician Billy Strings announced his fifth studio album, "So Much for Goodbyes," set for release on August 28 via Reprise Records. The 16-song collection was recorded in honor of his late mother, Debra Apostol.
Strings worked with legendary producer T Bone Burnett on the album, channeling his grief after his mother's 2025 death. "I made this record to honor my mother," Strings said, using his guitar as a coping mechanism.
The artist shared the lead single, "Burn the Other End," on Tuesday, while the album cover features original artwork by Apostol. The collection will be available in multiple vinyl variants, with all production originating in the U.S.
Strings returns to PBS' "Austin City Limits" this Thursday, marking his first headlining concert since breaking his leg earlier this year. He will then kick off a summer tour at Willie Nelson's July 4th concert in Austin, Texas.
Following his tour, the artist will host his first annual Ionia Freak Fair on August 28 and 29 in Ionia, Mich. The two-day festival will feature headlining sets by Strings and performances by artists including Sierra Hull.
