LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, JUL 15 – Beyoncé and Jay-Z each earned multiple Emmy nods for NFL halftime specials, highlighting Black talent and competing in key categories including Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
- On Tuesday, July 15, the Television Academy announced nominations, the NFL 2024 Christmas Day Halftime Show co-directed by Beyoncé and Alex Rudzinski earned nods for Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Variety Special .
- In the world of live broadcast events, Beyoncé’s Emmy history began with a 2013 nomination for her Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show, and NFL halftime performances have since won Emmys, as in 2022.
- Key creatives behind Beyoncé Bowl were recognized, with choreographers Tyrik Patterson, Charm La'Donna, Christopher Grant and Parris Goebel earning an Outstanding Choreography nomination, and the special gaining four nods including Production Design, Choreography, Directing and Variety Special.
- These nods open the door for Beyoncé’s first potential Primetime Emmy win, and the 77th Emmy Awards are set for September 14 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on CBS and Paramount Plus.
