Ben Affleck Breaks Silence on Both His Parents Dying This Year
- On Wednesday, September 30, Ben Affleck reflected on losing both parents during an appearance on Kerry Washington's podcast Streets. He disclosed that his father Timothy Affleck died in April and his mother Chris Affleck in June.
- Chris Affleck died in June at age 83 following a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Earlier, Casey Affleck confirmed their father Timothy also passed away in April 2026.
- Ben shared that losing his parents caused him to "deeply appreciate" his mother's "sacrifice and commitment". He also recently discovered private letters revealing her early ambitions in California.
- The Gone Girl actor acknowledged that while his relationship with Timothy was rocky, the "principal lesson and legacy" of his father's life was that he "dramatically improved it" through sobriety. This recognition reflects his adult understanding that parents are simply people doing their best.
- Casey also expressed the significance of their parents at the Venice Film Festival, stating they were "very important" to him. Both brothers have publicly processed their grief throughout 2026.
