In the Šalčininkai district, border guards, who took over control, landed a drone that had flown into Lithuania with a cargo of illegal cigarettes. The smugglers lost another drone and 1,000 packs of Belarusian cigarettes. This year, the State Border Service officers guarding the state border with Belarus have already intercepted 58 drones - almost as many as they did in the whole of last year.
After taking control, border guards in the Šalčininkai district intercepted a plane that had entered Lithuania with a cargo of illegal cigarettes.
Lithuanian border guards knocked down another drone of smugglers who brought cigarettes from Belarus, and the drone crashed and burned, but the Belgian cigarettes were intact. The incident took place on the night of Monday, Tuesday, near the village of Salikunishkes in the Shalchininkai district.
