Fatal Train Strikes More than Double in B.C.
The BC Coroners Service said the toll was more than double the six deaths reported in the same period last year.

- Canada reached 42 fatalities by late July, mirroring the provincial surge, while the Transportation Safety Board reported 71 train-related deaths in 2025, a five-year high.
- To mark the start of Rail Safety Week, Transit Minister Mike Farnworth addressed the increase and urged the public to "look, listen, and follow instructions" at all railway crossings.
- CN chief of police Shawn Will emphasized the need for caution after a recent Mission incident on Sept. 17 increased the provincial toll, stating "every crossing and every set of tracks deserves your full attention.
