B.C. Driller Found Deceased in Northwest B.C. Near Burns Lake Mourned
The company halted all drilling for the rest of the year after 68-year-old John Phillip "Phil" McLean was found dead near its Deer Horn Property.
First Tellurium suspended all exploration activities at its Deer Horn Property for the remainder of the year following the death of 68-year-old driller John Phillip "Phil" McLean.
McLean was reported missing on Sept. 29 and located deceased near Ootsa Lake on Oct. 1 following a concerted search effort by Burns Lake RCMP and Burns Lake Search.
First Tellurium stated McLean was found following an "accident" near the Deer Horn Property, a polymetallic exploration project approximately 36 kilometres south of Huckleberry Mine.
Police do not consider the death suspicious, though no official cause of death has been released; McLean had traveled to Ootsa Lake on Sept. 22 to load a "hovercraft/barge."
"Phil was one of those rare people you never forget," stated First Tellurium President and CEO Tyrone Docherty, describing McLean as a legendary figure in the British Columbia drilling community.
