B.C. Begins Voting without Conservatives’ Costed Platform, Doerkson Calls It Imminent
The New Democrats and Greens have released costed plans as the Conservatives face questions over $5 billion in promises and possible spending cuts.
British Columbians have started voting without a costed platform from the B.C. Conservatives, though Leader Lorne Doerkson said the document will be released "imminently."
Doerkson explained the delay by citing a $14 billion deficit, stating he wants platform numbers accurate and refuses to promise anything the party "can't make happen."
At a campaign stop in Port Moody, Doerkson reiterated plans to build a Surrey hospital, replace the Massey Tunnel, and cut income taxes by up to $1,000 for working British Columbians.
NDP Leader David Eby criticized the missing platform, alleging the Conservatives made an estimated $5 billion in promises while planning to cut public services to pay for them.
Advance polls remain open through next Wednesday before the October 24 election, while the Green Party and New Democrats have already released their costed platforms.
