Kane Watches as Bayern Cruise Into German Cup Last 16
On Wednesday, Bayern Munich advanced to the DFB-Pokal round of 16 at the Allianz Arena, cruising past Magdeburg with a dominant performance.
Coach Vincent Kompany returned to the dugout after being discharged from hospital five days following his Friday collapse, while star striker Harry Kane remained on the bench.
Michael Olise scored twice and substitute Alphonso Davies transformed the match after half-time, as Bayern dominated with 63% possession and 19 shots against Magdeburg's nine.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Nuremberg 5-2, while Freiburg won 3-2 against Wolfsburg after Japan forward Keisuke Goto scored twice in the final 15 minutes.
Bayern prepares for Saturday's home Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund, with Kane and the squad rested after the DFB-Pokal victory.
6:1 won, Kane spared – and in the end opponent Magdeburg was even a bit proud. More self-confidence than the Bayern can hardly be replenished in the trophy. Now it is in the league against the rival from Dortmund.
