Bandit Kingpin, 60 others dead as DSS, vigilante foil bloody Katsina attack
Security forces said intelligence led to an ambush that killed more than 60 suspected bandits and four vigilantes and hunters.
- In an intelligence-led operation in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, security forces killed over 60 armed bandits, including kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki, following a planned reprisal attack on local communities.
- Over 200 armed bandits led by Idi Abasu Aiki stormed Guga village, allegedly seeking retaliation for an earlier confrontation in Dawan Laila where local hunters inflicted heavy losses on the group.
- Operatives of the DSS carried out the operation, supported by members of the Katsina State Community Vigilantes and specially trained local hunters who intercepted the attackers.
- The confrontation resulted in 14 top commanders killed among the bandits, though four members of the Katsina State Community Vigilantes and local hunters also died during the intense exchange.
- Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the targeted group, linked to several violent attacks across Katsina and Zamfara States, walked into a trap set by the DSS using precise intelligence.
