Following the outcry of auto and cab drivers against the operation of unauthorized bike taxis and demanding the implementation of 'One City One Rate', regional transport authorities in Bengaluru have seized around 20 bike taxis in an operation. However, the drivers, who have alleged that the seizure is being carried out without any prior notice, have questioned how this is illegal when the service is provided through apps.
The Tamil Nadu government has categorically stated in the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court that it will not allow bike taxi services in Tamil Nadu until a proper policy decision is taken.
