Gas prices are now averaging well over $4 a gallon in most of Northwest Indiana as the war in Iran drags on.

Gasoline and diesel prices have risen to multi-year highs due to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the average price of gas in Indiana rising 19.3 cents in the last week to $3.99 per gallon.

The Triple A Motor Club says the average price of gas in Indiana on Monday was $3.99 per gallon, 1¢ lower than Sunday and the same as Monday’s national average. It was also 18¢ higher than a week ago, $1.17 higher than a month ago, and 89¢ higher than a year ago.
