Automotive Grade Linux Launches Open Source SoDeV Reference Platform to Accelerate Software Defined Vehicles

On Dec. 5, 2025, Automotive Grade Linux announced SoDeV, an open-source SDV reference platform from San Francisco supporting ECU consolidation and cloud integration.
AGL says SoDeV aims to reduce fragmentation and foster industry collaboration to speed development and time to market, enabling software development teams to work independent of hardware.
Technically, SoDeV bundles the AGL Unified Code Base with Linux containers, VirtIO, the Xen hypervisor and Zephyr RTOS in a single pre-integrated package including Panasonic's multi-display virtualization and Unified HMI.
Availability is set for early 2026, with AGL saying SoDeV will support virtual environments, cloud processors, and automotive SOCs; demos and discussions will occur at the Automotive Linux Summit, Tokyo on December 8, 2025.
Led by Panasonic Automotive Systems and Honda, SoDeV includes Toyota, Mazda, AISIN and Renesas, with Dan Cauchy saying `There are many key open source components... hosted at Linux Foundation.
