- Western Australian Police detectives arrested Silvey in January after raiding his Fremantle home, where they allegedly caught him communicating online with child exploitation offenders and seized electronic devices.
- Since the charges were laid, publishers and schools removed works including Jasper Jones and Runt from curricula, and a Sydney theatre production was "indefinitely" paused after the disclosure.
- Silvey remains on $100,000 surety with conditions requiring he report to his local police station three times a week and is banned from child-related work including school visits.
- Sentencing proceedings will proceed to the District Court, where Silvey is scheduled to appear on July 3 while his bail remains active pending that hearing.
