Auburn to sit QB Ashton Daniels against Mercer to preserve a year of eligibility

Auburn will sit senior QB Ashton Daniels against Mercer to preserve his redshirt and retain eligibility for a likely start in the Iron Bowl against Alabama, coach DJ Durkin said.

  • On Nov. 17, interim head coach DJ Durkin announced Ashton Daniels will not play against Mercer this Saturday at 1 p.m.

  • Interim coach DJ Durkin said both Jackson Arnold and Deuce Knight will play against Mercer but did not name a starter, adding staff will `put together a great plan' to support them.
  • With Auburn Tigers , Jackson Arnold has passed for 1,278 yards and six touchdowns while Deuce Knight appeared once against Ball State.
