An object orbiting well beyond the reaches of Pluto may not only be the latest dwarf planet discovered in Earth's solar system, but it may be the largest and brightest object yet spotted in its region.
The group of dwarf planets in our solar system may have a new member. Researchers have discovered a celestial object beyond Neptune that seems to meet all requirements.
The initial estimates place their diameter between 600 and 1,500 kilometers, and can be incorporated into the list of dwarf planets of the Solar System if future observations confirm their nature.
