It is a regular feature in Christmas pictures and nativity scenes. The large, bright star shining above the manger is one of the most famous Christian scenes and has fascinated theologians, historians and astronomers for centuries. Yet, to this day, we still don't know exactly what the Bible says the wise men from the East saw when they set out for Bethlehem.
