Asian shares are mixed after Wall Street gains, oil price steadies
Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.5% to 70,321.83 as technology shares swung and oil held near $100 a barrel, analysts said.
On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.5% to 70,321.83, returning above the 70,000 mark for the first time since early July as Asian shares posted mixed results.
Rising inflationary pressures from the Iran war and a record $40 trillion national debt pushed the 10-year Treasury yield to around 5.32%, keeping yields near multi-decade highs.
Technology giants Nvidia and Broadcom both advanced 2.1%, while Brent rose 0.4% to $100.71 per barrel; SoftBank Group fell 2.5% after CEO Masayoshi Son warned of Technology risks.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed 0.8% and Australia's ASX rose 0.6%, while South Korea's Kospi lost 1%; ING analysts Warren Patterson and Ewa Manthey noted larger Oil flows through the Persian Gulf are supporting prices.
Wall Street's Benchmark added 0.7% on Monday while the Nasdaq rose 1.1% to an all-time closing high, as expectations for strong company earnings support recent rallies despite challenges from Surging Oil prices.
