ARTS AND HUMANITIES: Aiken Symphony concert recalls tales of poison and panic

The first masterworks concert of the Aiken Symphony’s 2026-27 season features works with backstories, both apocryphal and true. Maestro Scott Weiss chose pieces by Antonio Salieri and Wolfgang Mozart, both linked in the popular imagination by a tale of envy and murder. Included in the program is also a key work by Pyotr Tchaikovsky written during a particularly trying time in his life.
