Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) have condemned the US and Israel’s military attacks on Iran and rejected unilateral sanctions imposed on some member states. The position was contained in the “Bishkek Declaration” signed at the end of a two-day SCO summit in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
In meetings and discussions with senior Eurasian, Chinese, and South Asian officials, I emphasized Iran's principled defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and the need for unity to manage the decline of an ailing empire.
