Arrest Made in Vernon House Fire
RCMP say the blaze caused significant damage and no injuries were reported, and the 23-year-old suspect remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
On Monday, Sept 7, a 23-year-old Vernon man was arrested following a house fire on Raven Road near Goose Lake Road that destroyed the property.
Crews from the Swan Lake Fire Department and Vernon Fire Rescue Services responded to the blaze shortly before noon on Labour Day, extinguishing the fire despite significant damage.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, with the suspect appearing in court and remaining remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.
Although the home sustained significant damage, authorities reported no injuries, and the investigation remains ongoing with no further details released at this time.
This incident marks the second arrest related to fires in less than a week, following a 43-year-old man arrested Sept 1 for arson in the Swan Lake Nature Reserve.
