- Choosing the lump sum, the winner took a $834.9 million pre-tax payout; federal tax withholding was 24%, Arkansas state tax 3.9%, with an estimated net payout of about $493 million and Murphy USA 7879 receiving a $50,000 commission.
- After claiming the prize, Arkansas law allows winners over $500,000 to request anonymity under Act 889 of 2021, but names may become public after three years, and the winner sought legal and financial advice, Sharon Strong said.
- As the second-largest Powerball payout, the $1.8 billion jackpot is the second-largest in U.S. history, raising $12 million for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery and marking the second Powerball win in Arkansas.
