Apple to Unveil New Siri at WWDC 2026 with Dedicated App, New 'Ask Siri' Button and a Whole New Look

Apple is developing a standalone Siri app, codenamed "Campo," to compete with chatbots like ChatGPT, unveiling the overhaul at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8 as part of iOS 27 and macOS 27.
Previously, Software Engineering Head Craig Federighi told Tom's Guide in 2025 that Apple aimed to avoid sending users "off into some chat experience," but rival chatbots from Google and Samsung prompted the strategic shift.
Apple Foundation Models and Google Gemini technology power new features including an "Ask Siri" tool and a "Write with Siri" option for text editing, which access personal data like messages, notes, and emails.
Replacing Spotlight Search, the updated assistant will function as a systemwide AI agent, allowing users to interact via text or voice with conversations displayed in a thread-like format similar to the Messages app.
While Apple will showcase "AI advancements" at the June 8 keynote, many features including on-screen awareness and personal data access may not be ready until Fall 2026 as the company continues testing.
