Vaping Tube Passenger 'Broke Man's Eye Socket' in Vicious Assault
The assault followed a dispute over vaping and caused serious facial injuries requiring surgery, British Transport Police said in their public appeal.
- On November 11, British Transport Police launched a CCTV appeal after an assault left a man in his 40s injured on an Eastbound District Line train from Sloane Square to Westminster Underground station.
- The victim, in his 40s, challenged a younger man for vaping aboard the District line train, prompting a verbal confrontation that escalated onto the platform at Westminster Underground station around 6.40pm.
- Detectives describe the suspect as a White man in his late teens to early twenties with short black hair, wearing a black puffer jacket and grey trousers; police said he punched the victim, fracturing his cheekbone and breaking his eye socket, causing vision damage requiring surgery.
- BTP asked the public to get in touch on 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 613 of 11 November, and said Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously.
- The appeal came one day after MyLondon reported the assault of a train guard by a group of passengers and follows someone hurt while intervening at Birmingham International station.
