Pope Francis declared the missionaries martyrs in 2025, and the diocese expects 10,000 people at the special Mass.
On Thursday, a manuscript map of the Mason-Dixon Line sold for $950,000 at Brunk Auctions in Asheville, North Carolina, marking a significant price for the historic survey.
Originally intended to settle a border dispute between Maryland and Pennsylvania, the hand-drawn survey was completed in 1768 by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon.
Lauren Brunk of Brunk Auctions reported that 45 bidders competed for the survey in just under three minutes, demonstrating strong collector interest.
Publisher Malcolm Forbes previously purchased the map in 1982 for $360,000, outbidding the Library of Congress in a notable transaction.
The map's boundary lines became synonymous with fundamental divisions between free and slave states, eventually escalating into civil war four decades later.
