Anne Hathaway’s Met Gala 2026 Dress Is a Literal Ode to the Grecian Urn
The one-of-a-kind gown was inspired by John Keats and hand-painted by Peter McGough to reflect the Met Gala’s art-themed dress code.
On Monday, Anne Hathaway walked the 2026 Met Gala red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, wearing a custom, hand-painted Michael Kors Collection gown for the 'Fashion Is Art' theme.
Designer Michael Kors collaborated with artist Peter McGough to create the gown, drawing inspiration from John Keats's 1819 poem 'Ode on a Grecian Urn' to convey themes of peace and beauty.
The black mikado ball gown features hand-painted doves and the Greek goddess of peace along its borders and train, paired with a gold collar necklace from Bulgari High Jewelry.
Marking her ninth Met Gala appearance since 2009, Hathaway arrived shortly after The Devil Wears Prada 2 hit theaters on Friday, May 1, joining costars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci on the carpet.
Hathaway teased her next role in director Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey through imagery on the gown's train, while maintaining she views herself as a 'guest' in the fashion world despite her consistent Met Gala presence.
