Prosecutors showed an interrogation video and digital messages they say link Caleb Flynn to his wife’s killing and an effort to stage the scene.
- On Monday, the state rested its case in the murder trial of Caleb Flynn, 40, in Miami County, Ohio, after calling more than three dozen witnesses over seven days. Prosecutors allege Flynn killed his 37-year-old wife, Ashley Flynn, and staged a burglary to make it appear an intruder broke in.
- Digital evidence presented Monday showed Flynn frequently messaged his mistress about wanting his wife to die, according to analyst Samantha Reeb from the Ohio Bureau of Investigation. Prosecutors allege he shot Ashley twice in the back of the head to be with his mistress.
- During police interviews played in court, Flynn denied involvement, saying "I didn't touch my wife," despite investigators finding his 9mm handgun missing from his truck console. He told police he awoke to gunshots before finding his wife unresponsive on February 16.
- The defense rested Monday without calling witnesses or having Flynn testify. Closing arguments are expected tomorrow, with defense attorneys arguing there is no direct evidence such as a firearm linking Flynn to the murder.
- Flynn, who pleaded not guilty, faces charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. The jury will deliberate on evidence from the seven-day trial, which centered on digital messages, police interviews, and the missing murder weapon.
