Amateur darts players battle Luke Littler for big jackpot
On Monday, Netflix announced darts player Luke Littler will headline a new live event titled 'Beat Luke Littler,' offering a £501,000 prize to any amateur who defeats the 19-year-old world number one.
Littler's series announcement follows his second consecutive Betfred World Matchplay title in Blackpool on Sunday, where he defeated Gerwyn Price 18-9 and hit 66 maximums during the tournament.
Aspiring contestants can apply now for open regional heats scheduled in London and Manchester this September, with 20 successful applicants chosen to face the champion live on air.
The Banijay-backed Workerbee production will air live on October 30, according to Netflix, which formed its live team earlier this year under the leadership of Daisy Lilley.
Organizers designed the prize as a reference to the 501 points players must reduce to zero in a standard game, positioning the contest as a test of skill against the sport's elite.
Netflix expands its live sports offer and relies on the biggest name of dart sports. Amateurs are supposed to compete against Luke Littler by a mega-sum.
