Álvaro Amaro resigns as MEP after being convicted of prevarication

Former mayor of Gouveia will appeal the sentence.

The decision follows the conviction - which he will appeal - to three and a half months of imprisonment by the Court of the Guard, for the prevarication of the holder of political office.
