Alnylam, Inceptive Ink AI Deal Potentially Worth $2B
The three-year pact pairs Inceptive’s foundation models with Alnylam’s RNAi platform to speed siRNA design and includes milestone payments.
On Wednesday, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals and Inceptive Nucleics announced a strategic collaboration worth up to $2 billion to accelerate RNA interference drug discovery using artificial intelligence.
Inceptive CEO Jakob Uszkoreit noted that 'most drug design still works through a process of trial and error, testing thousands of molecules and hoping something sticks,' a limitation the partnership addresses.
Alnylam will pay $30 million upfront in cash and equity, gaining access to Inceptive's AI expertise and talent including co-founder Uszkoreit, who co-invented the Transformer architecture underlying ChatGPT.
CEO Yvonne Greenstreet, M.D., stated the company is 'thrilled to partner with Inceptive to push the boundaries' of RNAi medicine, supporting Alnylam's 2030 strategy for pipeline expansion.
Inceptive, founded in 2021, specializes in sequence-based medicine design including siRNA and peptides, bolstering Alnylam's global reach which currently spans more than 70 countries.
