Alleged rapist of drugged woman 'sent alarmed Gisele Pelicot message'
Prosecutors say the husband shared more than 1 million images and videos of the abuse, and nine men deny rape and conspiracy charges.
Nine men appeared in Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday to face trial for allegedly drugging and raping a woman at her Stockport home, a campaign orchestrated by the victim's husband over two decades.
Using a "stupefying cocktail" of drugs, the husband kept his wife unconscious for years, filming the abuse and storing evidence in a digital "confession booth" of his actions.
Police seized over one million photos and videos of the victim after undercover journalists on Telegram exposed the abuse by infiltrating a group where the husband shared illicit images.
Accused of participating in these "barbaric fantasies," the nine defendants allegedly derived sexual gratification from knowing the victim was unconscious and unaware of their actions.
Drawing comparisons to the Dominique Pelicot trial in France, the case continues as the husband, who pleaded guilty to 62 charges, is expected to testify against the remaining nine defendants.
