Wildfire South of La Casta Now 565 Hectares
BC Wildfire Service said 2,223 properties remain under evacuation order as crews battle the 565-hectare blaze and protect nearby communities.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Quilpituk Creek wildfire near Westside Road remains mapped at 565.8 hectares. The blaze is one of 120 active wildfires currently burning across the province.
- BC Wildfire Service reported significant growth to the northwest on Monday, moving the fire away from community areas. Throughout the night, BCWS night vision systems worked to cool hot spots and minimize further spread.
- Currently, 2,223 properties are under evacuation order while 425 remain on alert. Westside Road stays closed north from Caesars Landing as crews create a 10-foot edge on the eastern flank.
- Evacuees can access Emergency Support Services at Westbank Lions Hall for assistance and supplies. The Salvation Army provides food, while group lodging remains available at Royal LePage Place Arena .
- Residents noticing fire activity outside designated areas should call *5555 or 911 to report it. RVs and trailers can park at Mount Boucherie Secondary School overnight to access support services.
