Flyhalf Richie Mo'unga to Join the New Zealand All Blacks on Rugby Tour of South Africa
Richie Mo'unga returns after three seasons in Japan and can bolster a squad hit by Billy Proctor's shoulder injury.
On Thursday, New Zealand All Blacks coach Dave Rennie recalled fly-half Richie Mo'unga to the squad for the South Africa tour, replacing injured center Billy Proctor.
Proctor fractured his shoulder during the All Blacks' opening tour win against the Stormers in Cape Town last week, forcing his return home.
The 32-year-old Mo'unga, who earned 56 tests, last played at the 2023 World Cup before spending three seasons at Japanese club Toshiba Brave Lupus.
Rennie called Mo'unga 'the obvious choice' as a replacement, tasking him with learning team systems before the four-test 'Greatest Rivalry' series against the Springboks.
The four-match series concludes with a final test in Baltimore, Maryland, following three matches against the Springboks in South Africa.
