Aldi to open 40 new UK stores in 2027 in £900m expansion as 10 locations confirmed
The expansion will create thousands of jobs and support British suppliers as Aldi moves toward a long-term target of 1,500 UK stores.
Aldi announced plans to open 40 new stores across the UK next year as part of a £900 million investment programme, expanding its retail footprint nationwide.
Ten locations were confirmed for 2027, including Angel in North London, Bridgend in South Wales, Clapham in South London, Exmouth in Devon, Halifax in West Yorkshire, Haywards Heath in West Sussex, Ivybridge, Kew in South West London, Ryde on the Isle of Wight, and Winnersh in Berkshire.
Managing director of national real estate at Aldi, Jonathan Neale, said: "We're continuing to invest significantly across the UK as we progress towards our long-term ambition of 1,500 Aldi stores." The chain currently operates 1,095 locations.
Before the 2027 expansion begins, the retailer is on track to open 27 new stores before the end of 2026, including a supermarket in Newport, South Wales, opening later this month.
The ongoing expansion effort is expected to create thousands of jobs while providing further opportunities for British suppliers, reinforcing Aldi's long-term commitment to UK growth.
