Adobe Is Putting Its Entire Creative Ecosystem Inside ChatGPT with One Unified Plugin

The plugin lets shoppers reorder lists, compare products and build carts in natural language before checking out on Safeway’s platform.

  • On Wednesday, Albertsons Companies launched a Safeway plugin for ChatGPT, enabling shoppers to discover products, reorder weekly lists, and build carts through natural language requests. The Boise, Idaho-based retailer announced live availability of the tool.
  • The plugin expands Albertsons Cos.' AI-powered shopping foundation, building on existing AI shopping assistant and Ask AI tools. Jill Pavlovich, SVP of Digital Customer Experience, said the retailer aims to power customers at every touchpoint with a faster, easier experience.
  • Customers remain in control throughout, able to review, compare, modify, or remove suggested products before completing purchases. Users open ChatGPT, select the plugin, and type "@Safeway" to begin requests like "Help me plan a quick pasta dinner for four."
  • While the chatbot facilitates product discovery and list building, shoppers are eventually redirected to the Safeway platform to complete checkout. Users must sign in to their accounts to finalize transactions securely on the company's site.
  • Research indicates consumers are increasingly interested in utilizing AI to assist with grocery shopping. By meeting customers when and how they choose to shop, Albertsons Cos. expects to reduce friction and simplify everyday tasks, supporting needs like finding relevant savings.
