Al-Quadin Muhammad leaving Detroit Lions to sign with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
On March 12, 2026, Al-Quadin Muhammad signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leaving the Detroit Lions for a deal worth up to $6 million, NFL Network reported.
Muhammad's breakout 2025 season featured career highs in sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback hits, emerging as a pass-rush threat despite not starting games for the Detroit Lions.
The Lions signed Muhammad to the practice squad on Oct. 7, 2024, then elevated him, and he earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 14 after three sacks in a win over Dallas.
He becomes the second Detroit Lions defender to join the Buccaneers since the start of the free agent negotiating period Monday, joining linebacker Alex Anzalone, and Muhammad's new contract reflects a sizable pay raise over the $1.4 million he earned last year.
Muhammad's rise followed Marcus Davenport's pectoral strain, which opened opportunities, making him the second Lions player since 1983 to have multiple 2.5-sack games, according to NFL Network.
