Aiden Flora accounts for 5 TDs as Iowa State outlasts West Virginia in a wild 45-42 victory
Flora ran for 212 yards and threw two scores as the Cyclones overcame a late West Virginia rally in a 1,095-yard game.
On Saturday, Iowa State defeated West Virginia 45-42 as running back Aiden Flora accounted for five touchdowns, including the go-ahead 2-yard score with 1:57 remaining in a high-scoring Big 12 contest.
Both teams combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense in a wild offensive display. Iowa State finished with 577 yards while West Virginia recorded 518, marking one of the season's most productive Bowl Subdivision games.
Flora rushed 22 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs. He also threw two passing touchdowns to Cody Jackson and Vince Benetti, while quarterback Jaylen Raynor completed 19 of 27 passes for 264 yards.
Iowa State sealed the victory when Beni Ngoyi forced and recovered a fumble by West Virginia wideout DJ Epps with 59 seconds remaining. Flora then gained an 11-yard first down to exhaust the final time.
The Mountaineers, who allow 456.6 yards per game, face ongoing defensive struggles after surrendering 1,186 yards in back-to-back weeks. West Virginia hosts Arizona next Saturday.
