'Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' Trailer Gives Overview of Remake
The remake adds a jump button, sprinting, and a Hall of Fallen Foes while keeping the original game’s linear structure.
- On November 5, 2026, Nintendo will release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, marking the franchise's 40th anniversary with its biggest tentpole release of the year.
- Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma described the project as a "faithful interpretation" of the 1998 original, rebuilt with modern quality-of-life features including manual jump and sprint mechanics while retaining the core gameplay loop.
- The Hall of Fallen Foes allows players to view defeated enemies and trigger boss rematches, while new microphone-based input lets players perform songs on the in-game ocarina by whistling or humming.
- Physical copies carry a $70 list price, though Amazon offers pre-orders for $60; the game launches two weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI, positioning it as a major holiday competitor.
- With a live-action film starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason arriving next year, Nintendo continues leveraging high production values seen since 2023's Super Mario Bros. Wonder to expand the franchise across media.
