After Primary Win, Cooke Starts Campaigning for November General
Cooke is pressing affordability and health care fixes as she prepares for a general election rematch with Republican incumbent Derek Van Orden.
Democratic candidate Rebecca Cooke met with voters in Eau Claire on Monday as part of her "Cooke Coming Together Tour" following her primary victory in the 3rd Congressional District.
Cooke faces incumbent Republican Representative Derrick Van Orden in the November 3 general election, setting up a rematch after narrowly losing to him in 2024 for the Wisconsin seat.
Addressing healthcare affordability, Cooke proposed expanding ACA tax credit premiums after monthly costs rose from $400 to $1,800, and advocated expanding Medicare to cover vision, dental, and hearing services.
Campaign spokesperson Grace Kim noted Van Orden broke with his party to extend ACA subsidies and secured a 6% Medicaid reimbursement rate for Wisconsin, totaling more than $203 million annually through the Rural Health Transformation Program.
92nd District Assembly candidate Jeremiah Frederickson joined the tour, emphasizing that winning his race plus four others would give Democrats control of the Assembly and Senate to represent Wisconsin residents.
