The music of Sun Ra, the king of afrofuturism, continues to resonate and inspire artists, such as American singer Janelle Monáe or producer Flying Lotus. In South Africa, the American jazzman who disappeared in 1993 and his cosmic mythology – he said came from Saturn – influenced a current group of Soweto's township: the Sun Xa Experiment. He tries to extend his philosophy of music, mixing African traditions there.
