Adult woman charged after 16-year-old boy was beaten for hours by group of teens in Stevensville
Police say videos showed the boy being punched, kicked and strangled for about three hours, and two teenage boys were also charged.
- On September 15, an arrest warrant was signed for 40-year-old Jessica Kalie McKay, a Ravalli County homeowner. Police booked McKay on charges of felony aggravated assault by accountability and felony criminal endangerment.
- During a party on September 12, a group of teens beat a 16-year-old for three hours, leaving him with a collapsed lung, jaw injuries, and "covered in blood." Court documents state the assault occurred after rumors the victim had assaulted a girl.
- According to Police, McKay was present for the majority of the assault despite her initial claim of remaining inside. Video evidence contradicted her statements, showing teens forming a "punch line" and taking turns striking the victim.
- Two teenage boys were also arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to Ravalli County District Court filings. Charges have not been filed against any other teens involved as of Wednesday, September 23.
- The RCSO reported "overwhelming" social media coverage and cautioned against violent rhetoric online. The family seeks healing and community unity, hoping to "not fight violence with violence" rather than pursue "justice in the wrong form or wrong way," according to the Office.
